FESTIVAL DE LA BALSA
MANTEÑA
|

October
The idea of the festival of the
Manteña Raft is born to represent our native culture, as a result of
the 500 years of indigenous resistance, to remember history before
the coming of the Spaniards to traverse of the Raft, the effort who
put the Manteños and other tribes, the routes that made by Chile,
Mexico, Peru and possibly Hawaii until mainly arriving at the empire
from the Señorio Salangome, making the interchange of their products
(exchanges) and demonstrating that these seas were intrepid sailors
crossing.
During these 12 years, through
the construction of the raft, it has been wanted to stage these
experiences of the Cultures, the curiosity to live an adventure
and to experiment I journey of this tool of transports by the
written down places.

|
In the beginnings of the colony the denominated “raft” was
used, boat constructed with raft wood (Och-blunt piramidales)
that was rented by the Spaniards like means of transport
between the different coastal towns. The sustained economic
base in the fishing, has allowed that the towns located in
the zones of influence of the Park, maintain their cultural
principles stable; having to emphasize that their tradition,
folklore and customs harmonize with their characteristic
standard of life. |
|
Puerto Lopez, Machalilla, Salango and Agua Blanca maintains
conditions rural of traditional towns: the “peasant” of
their houses, small shipyards for construction of boats,
agricultural activities framed to extreme drought and the
conducted fishing in artisan form, identify these
populations, including their constant religious faith and
the very particular form to celebrate their celebrations.
